Broadford is a town located in Victoria, Australia. It is part of the Mitchell Shire and has a population of approximately 4,000 people. The town has a rich history, which dates back to the mid-19th century.

Early History

The area where Broadford is located was originally inhabited by the Taungurung people, who were known for their expertise in hunting and gathering. The first European settler in the area was William Hunter, who established a hut in 1836. However, the town of Broadford was officially founded in 1854, during the Victorian gold rush.

The town was named after the famous Broadford in Scotland, which was the birthplace of a member of the Victorian parliament.

The Railway Era
